Project Background
Envision 273 is a collaborative, multi-year planning effort to develop recommendations for infrastructure improvements that support safety and mobility for everyone, beginning with an understanding of our local challenges, and needs. The SR 273 corridor connects the cities of Redding and Anderson and serves numerous outlying rural communities through feeder streets and roads. Despite significant changes in land use and population along the corridor over the decades, the transportation facility remains largely unchanged since it was renumbered from SR 99 following completion of Interstate 5.
Envision 273 offers residents a unique opportunity to provide input that:
- Develops a vision for SR 273 for the next 100 years
- Reduces barriers to mobility
- Enhances safety, accessibility, and connectivity for all users
- Achieves better compatibility between land use and corridor design
- Improves environmental sustainability and resiliency
- Positions the region to successfully compete for federal and state grant funds
Improvement recommendations for SR 273 will be developed in collaboration with the community to create a plan that works for residents, businesses, and visitors (see options to get involved).
